Please join us for an exhibition of new works from Alana Sproule.
A note from the artist,
"I gather objects in my life. They serve little purpose but feed a desire to surround myself with beautiful things: vintage doilies and handkerchiefs, forgotten lists, song lyrics, memories, domestic skills.
Good embroidery, like a good collection, takes time. Both are time consuming, both require patience. Is it possible for a collection to ever be complete, or are we doomed to hunt for the thrill of the find for the rest of our days? Do we own our collections, or do our collections own us?
“Come on and sew us together, just some tattered rags stained forever. We only have what we remember.” -Listener
